Staff Engineer
Role is Munich based | Top Relocation Support
On behalf of our client—a fast-growing, Y Combinator-backed AI startup automating back-office workflows - we are currently seeking a Staff Engineer (f/m/d).
In this key leadership role, you will serve as the hands-on technical backbone of the engineering team. You will lead complex cross-product architectural decisions, build critical core systems, and spend the majority of your time writing high-impact code. Additionally, you will mentor talented engineers and scale robust infrastructure alongside cutting-edge AI capabilities.
We are looking for an exceptional technical leader with over 8 years of software development experience, deep full-stack expertise, a proven track record of designing scalable systems in production, and the drive to work intensively on-site in Munich.
| WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Drive sophisticated architectural strategies across multiple products and act as the core technical anchor for the engineering team.
* Design, construct, and scale essential foundational systems and shared infrastructure utilized by various main products.
* Dedicate most of your day-to-day work to writing critical, high-quality full-stack code in Python, React, and TypeScript.
* Implement and launch state-of-the-art AI applications, LLMs, and high-volume data pipelines.
* Optimize system efficiency, guarantee high availability, and oversee the scaling of large-scale, live applications.
* Own the complete technical lifecycle of infrastructure and deployment processes utilizing Docker, Terraform, and major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Guide and develop highly skilled software developers, serving as a catalyst for excellence by defining superior engineering standards.
* Strike the perfect balance between quick delivery cycles and architectural precision, making swift technical decisions in a dynamic startup setting.
| WHOM WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* At least 8 years of hands-on software development experience resolving intricate technical obstacles in real-world production settings.
* Well-rounded full-stack proficiency with a deep emphasis on backend design, API development, and contemporary frontends (Python, React, TypeScript).
* Demonstrated background in Cloud/DevOps practices (including Docker, Terraform, AWS/GCP/Azure) and designing robust, highly scalable systems.
* A proactive leadership approach with deep technical accountability and a history of guiding and scaling engineering talent.
* A results-driven, highly focused attitude with a willingness to collaborate closely on-site in Munich within a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
* Exceptional English communication skills to facilitate seamless collaboration within a high-performing global engineering team.
| REMOTE WORK POLICY
In this role, you will work on-site from our office in Munich to foster close, high-bandwidth collaboration and rapid execution.
Should you relocate or travel for this position, your relocation or travel expenses will, of course, be fully covered by our client.
| WHAT YOU WILL GET
* Competitive salary up to €200k + equity (negotiable based on experience)
* Real ownership of core parts of the product architecture from day one
* The steepest possible learning curve within an ambitious, high-growth AI startup
* Direct collaboration with an exceptional founder team and access to the prestigious Y Combinator network
* Top-tier equipment and uncapped access to AI services and development tools
* Free Urban Sports Club membership
* On-demand remote options whenever temporary flexibility is needed
